Emmanuel Orphanage is a home for the destitute was founded by Bro. Chackochan Edayal and is running under Emmanuel Christian Charitable society (E.C.C.S), Angamaly,Kerala, India.

Blood…...........it runs in our veins and plays a vital role in the body mechanism and it is the river of life that flows through the human body. But have you ever spared a thought for those who are fighting with some disease and need blood urgently. Act now and donate your blood without any worry.

It won’t cost you nothing but could bring back the smile on someone’s face!!!
A life may be depending on you.
Blood  Transfusion is a safe and effective medical procedure that saves many lives . After donating blood the donor (if properly selected) does not feel any weakness and the donated amount of blood is replaced with in 24 hours to one week.
Blood donation can be repeated safely after 2 to 3 months. One unit of blood can be separated into several components (red blood cells, white blood cells, plasma, platelets and cryoprecipitate) and can save 3 lives.
Facts about Blood & Blood Donation
There is no substitute for human blood.
Every 2 seconds someone needs blood.
Every year our nation requires about 5 Crore units of blood , but only a meager 8 Lakh  units of blood are available.
Anybody between 18 to 55 years and have above 50Kgs can donate Blood.
Just one unit of donated blood can help to save as many as three people's lives.
The average adult has 10 units of blood in his or her body.
Blood makes up about 7% of your body's weight.
A newborn baby has about one cup of blood in his or her body.
Blood fights against infection and helps to heal wounds, keeping you healthy.
There are four main blood types: A, B, AB and O. AB is the universal recipient and O is the universal donor.
Blood centers often run short of negative type of blood.
If all eligible blood donors give 2 times a year, removes blood shortages in our country.
Giving blood will not decrease your strength or weight.
You cannot get AIDS or any other infectious diseases by donating blood.
People should donate blood with a sense of duty and community spirit, not to make money and not for money.
One unit of blood can be separated into several components (red blood cells, white blood cells, plasma, platelets and cryoprecipitate).
Red blood cells carry oxygen to the body's organs and tissues.
Donated red blood cells must be used within 42 days of collection.
Donated platelets must be used within five days of collection.
Plasma can be frozen and used for up to a year.

Granulocytes, a type of white blood cell, roll along blood vessel walls to search and destroy bacteria.

Tips on Blood Donation
You will not feel drained or tired if you continue to drink fluids and have a good meal.
You can resume your normal activities after donating blood, though you are asked to refrain from exercise or heavy weight lifting for twelve hours after donation.
Donating blood will not leave you low of blood; in fact you will still have surplus blood after the donation.
If you choose to consume alcohol, you can on the next day.
While donating blood you will not feel any pain.
You will not faint or feel uncomfortable after donating blood. This is a common misconception.
You will not get AIDS if you donate blood.
Blood donors donate blood and do not sell it.
Patients are just like donors - most of them have common blood types. Because your blood type is common, the demand for that type is greater than for rare types. So, even if your blood type is common there is still a requirement.
Please have a good meal at least 3 hours before donating blood.
Please accept the snacks offered to you after the donation, it is vital you have them. You are recommended to have a good meal later.
Please avoid smoking on the day before donating. You can smoke 3 hours after donation.
You will not be eligible to donate blood if you have consumed alcohol 48 hours before donation.
You can donate your precious blood voluntarily to your nearest hospital or blood bank.
